I just love this picture of Clara! I finally dug it out and scanned it together with the little piece of writing that goes along with it. Clara with a 'C' because the things I am sharing here Clara wrote when she was in 2nd grade and still writing her name with a 'C'. For this first piece the class was instructed to each write an 'About the Author' section about themselves. This is what Clara wrote:
Clara Donohue loves to travel. She has two dogs named Daisy and Biscuit. She lives in Ludlow, VT. with her parents next to her cousin's house. She loves to play games on her taddle (she meant 'tablet' but at the time she didn't know how to spell it), play in the woods, and play on her trampoline. She is funny, smart, and helpful. She loves to ride bikes, scooters, and walk her dogs.

I like my ears

I like my ears because I can hear directions. I can hear stories and I can hear my friends. When somebody is trying to tell me something, I can answer them because I can hear them. I can hear music and talking and I can hear singing. My mom and dad tell me to do things like brush my teeth or go to bed or to get your pajamas and get dressed. I like my ears.
