What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?
And if success was not guaranteed would you attempt it anyway?
While living on Cape Cod from 2004 to 2007 I found this magnet in a shop and it has been on my fridge ever since, although now it is hanging above my desk. It reminds me that it's ok to try things even if success is not a given and to keep trying.
Back when I first got the magnet 'Falling in Love' was my answer to the question. At the time I had made several 'attempts' over the years, even though 'failure' always seemed inevitable. I did keep trying. In the end, I allowed myself not to 'fail' any longer, but to get there had been a rough journey.
As I was putting together this short post, I realized I should find a new answer to the question. I found two:
1. Successfully write a blog. I am not sure what success means in this case, maybe reaching my goal of 100 posts by the end of the year would be a good marker. I should add that this blog you are reading is not the first one I started, it is the third installment.
2. Pack my two, metaphorical suitcases, pack up Klara, Matt, and the dogs, and bid our life in Vermont goodbye after many wonderful years and start new somewhere else. And, yes, Ireland would probably be right up at the top of the list of potential places, but just a new adventure somewhere else would be refreshing!
What would you attempt to do, if you knew you could not fail?
